YOUR CHOICE IS IMPORTANT

A practice
that
understands

Mood altering substances can serve a meaningful purpose in many people’s lives. Despite the positive and negative associations with alcohol and other drugs, their effects can be tricky mainly because it can affect the way we process beliefs and thoughts, and can come with unforeseen negative consequences. We often question whether we have control or not. I empathize with the energy that goes into the process of trying to maintain control and the feelings of losing control.

I personally understand addiction and mismanaged mental health. I feel comfortable treating those who are ambivalent about doing something different and those who are acting out their change. My number one goal is to adhere to the process of change. Within 1 to 2 sessions, feelings of hope and a sense of direction will be experienced.

Over the past 20+ years I have been educating communities, developing outpatient treatment programs, and devoting time to counsel in various mental health and addiction treatment settings.  I have learned a great deal about how the mind, and specifically cognitive processes, affects behavior.  I realize that escapism is a natural response to adversity and when things are not going our way, we can get stuck in a cycle of avoiding the real problems that are occurring.  My goal is to meet people where they are at mentally and provide guidance into the change process.
