I do not claim to be a marriage therapist or couples counselor. My goal with families and loved ones is to help them address addiction and substance use patterns that have been affecting the whole family system. This can include structuring an intervention to address the person with the alcohol and/or other drug problem, or helping parents and/or partners with coping skills for someone in active addiction or in early recovery from such. I also place a lot of focus on helping family members establish healthy boundaries, so everyone in the family system can get healthy again.
I have received formal training in providing Structured Interventions from the Love First Training Institute (https://lovefirst.net/). Interventions address the family with a primary goal of getting a loved one with addiction issues into a safe and secure treatment center that is tailored to their specific needs. The Love First model has excellent outcomes for achieving this and provides a framework for what it means to have healthy boundaries.

Therapy & Recovery Coaching
WHAT WE OFFER
It is imperative to understand that one size does not fit all for people trying to get sober or maintain recovery. Intensive Outpatient or (another) inpatient admission may not be what you want at this time. Services offered at Counseling Choices are tailored to fit the specific needs of the client (and the family), and we have the ability to come to you. Counseling Choices offers a package that focuses on improving wellness along with therapy. You will have the opportunity to work with a licensed therapist up to 2 times per week and a Nationally Certified Health and Wellness Coach on a regular basis to help improve your chances at success.
Integrating professional counseling and wellness coaching offers one of the most vital aspects of achieving recovery, “accountability”. Therapy/counseling focuses on identifying values, the relationship between thoughts and behaviors, and internal locus of control, while wellness is keen to physical, spiritual, and emotional well being. Clients can choose from a menu of services that integrate these two similar recovery support concepts. Based on the service of choice, a high level of accountability can be implemented each week to help the identified person and their family cope with the disease of addiction.
