Clinical supervision is an important part of developing confidence, sound clinical judgment, and professional competence as a counselor. At Counseling Choices, clinical supervision is designed to provide developing clinicians with practical guidance, professional support, and a structured environment where they can strengthen their skills while working toward certification or licensure.

Brandon Robinson has spent more than 15 years helping beginning-level clinicians grow into certified and licensed professionals. His approach goes beyond simply completing required supervision hours. The goal is to help clinicians better understand their work, think critically about clinical decisions, develop confidence in their abilities, and establish a strong foundation for long-term professional growth.

Clinical Supervision with Brandon Robinson

Whether you are beginning the supervision process, progressing toward full licensure or certification, or looking for more meaningful professional guidance, supervision is tailored to support your development as a clinician.

A Comprehensive Approach to Clinical Development

Effective clinical supervision should be more than reviewing cases or documenting hours. It should provide clinicians with an opportunity to examine their work, strengthen clinical reasoning, ask difficult questions, and receive constructive feedback from an experienced supervisor.

The supervision process may include discussion and development in areas such as:

  • Clinical decision-making and case conceptualization
  • Treatment planning and documentation
  • Professional boundaries and ethical considerations
  • Communication with clients and families
  • Navigating challenging clinical situations
  • Developing confidence in professional judgment
  • Understanding the responsibilities associated with clinical practice
  • Building a professional identity as a counselor
  • Identifying areas for continued education and professional growth

Supervision also provides a space for clinicians to reflect on their experiences and discuss situations that may not have a simple answer. The objective is not simply to tell a clinician what to do, but to help them develop the knowledge and reasoning necessary to make thoughtful clinical decisions independently.

Individual and Group Supervision

Clinical development benefits from both individualized guidance and opportunities to learn alongside other professionals.

Counseling Choices offers opportunities for individual and group supervision, allowing clinicians to receive direct feedback on their own professional development while also benefiting from conversations, perspectives, and experiences shared within a group setting.

Individual supervision provides dedicated time to discuss specific cases, professional concerns, goals, and areas in which additional support may be helpful.

Group supervision creates an opportunity for clinicians to learn from one another while considering different approaches to clinical situations. Exposure to the experiences and perspectives of other developing clinicians can broaden clinical thinking and provide valuable opportunities for professional discussion.

Virtual Clinical Supervision Options

Virtual supervision options are available, making it easier for eligible clinicians to participate consistently while balancing client schedules, professional responsibilities, and other commitments.

For clinicians who do not live near the Counseling Choices office or who prefer the convenience of remote meetings, virtual supervision can provide greater flexibility while maintaining a structured supervision relationship.

Who Is Clinical Supervision For?

Clinical supervision may be appropriate for counselors who are working toward certification or licensure through the NCSAPPB or NCBLCMHC and need an approved supervisor as part of that professional process.

It may also be valuable for developing clinicians who want more than the minimum requirements of supervision. Having access to an experienced clinician provides an opportunity to strengthen skills, discuss difficult cases, explore professional challenges, and gain greater confidence in clinical work.

Brandon’s supervision process is intended to help clinicians become not only credentialed professionals, but more knowledgeable, thoughtful, and confident practitioners.

Building Confidence as a Clinician

Beginning clinical practice can involve situations that are difficult to anticipate through coursework alone. Counselors may encounter complex family systems, substance use concerns, co-occurring mental health needs, ethical questions, difficult treatment decisions, and clients whose needs change throughout treatment.

Supervision provides an opportunity to work through those experiences with professional guidance.

Over time, the goal is for clinicians to become increasingly confident in their ability to evaluate situations, make sound clinical decisions, communicate effectively, and understand when consultation or additional support may be necessary.

This combination of accountability, education, reflection, and practical experience can help clinicians develop skills that continue to serve them long after the formal supervision process is complete.

Clinical Supervision Rates

Counseling Choices offers monthly supervision rates that include opportunities to participate in individual and group supervision settings while working toward applicable board requirements.

One license: $200 per month
